Crockpot Steel Cut Oatmeal Recipe {Guest Post By Crunchy Farm Baby}

I'm really excited to be guest posting for Earth Faerie Momma today; and to share my family's favorite, super-easy breakfast recipe!  Steel cut oats are a wonderful food to start out your day!  Considered a "power food," these are an excellent source of protein, fiber, and several vitamins and minerals.  Although rolled oats are also very healthy, steel cuts oats are processed in a different way (cut with sharp, steel blades, cutting them into thin slices to help retain more fiber and protein) making them more beneficial to you than the rolled oats.

My favorite way to cook steel cut oats is the easy way!  In a crockpot!  Before going to bed at night, I take a minute to plop everything in the crockpot, turn it on, and wake up to a delicious pot of tasty oatmeal!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 1 cup almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
- 3 cups filtered water
- cinnamon/nutmeg
- maple syrup
- fruit of your choice (I like to add a baggie of my frozen strawberries)

Directions:
Add all ingredients into the crockpot and stir.  Cook on lowest setting for 6-7 hours.  Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!

This recipe can be easily adapted to add any fruit and extras that you have in the house.  Some of our favorite additions are berries, peaches, bananas, and walnuts.  I hope you will be able to use this recipe to enjoy the delicious taste and healthy benefits of steel cut oats!
