What is your name and anyone else part of the business?

How did you get started with your business?
I started cloth diapering my oldest son 4 years ago now. I tried everything under the sun on his little bum and was pretty frustrated after endless messy clothes, rashes(still), stinky diapers, and most of all the diapers never fit right! So once he was potty trained there was a huge sigh of relief. That's not how cloth diapering should be!
Then along came my second son. He grew just as quickly and I tried my best again with the daipers I had used before. I started researching cloth diapers more intimately and fell in love with natural fabrics such as bamboo, cotton velour, and knit fabrics! My mother had briefly mentioned using wool covers instead of the PUL covers. I was intrigued! :) Of course I had tried various types and styles of diapers, but none quite stood out like a fitted diaper! After many countless hours, days, and nights I had made a cloth diaper stash that any mommie would be proud of! It was from this that I began creating the Doll Baby Couture fitted cloth diaper line.
Who or what was your inspiration?
My children are first and foremost the reason I began. Their health is very important to me. Much of my inspiration for new patterns and designs come from nature. It is not the patterns that I see when choosing a new fabric, but the colors and how they work together.
How long have you been doing what you do?
Doll Baby Couture opened about 1 year ago now. :)
What is your motivation? What are you passionate about?
My motivation is to create less waste and help other mothers create a healthy environment for their little ones as well. I love art. Anything that allows me to create, use, or rebuild something from new or old materials that can benefit my family and others is what I am really passionate about.
Where can we find you when you are not working? How do you spend a day off?
If I am not working I am playing with my children, or refinishing furniture. If I have a day off we all pack up and go hiking!

We have been using this diaper for a little over a month. It took awhile to get the diaper prepped, which is 5-7 washes to reach maximum absorbency. Once that was complete it worked wonders for night time. From what I can tell ,Vallon (9 months), is not a heavy wetter but I have felt wetness with some fitted diapers if he slept on his belly. The MighT NighT is super absorbant! I use a Disana wool cover over it and I don't worry one bit that he will leak on his cotton mattress.
Newbie info: This is a fitted diaper. Which means that it is not waterproof and requires a cover.
The only downside of this diaper is how long it takes to dry. It isn't as bad as some I have encountered because all of the layers flap out and unsnap from each other. The thickness around the elastic is what takes the longest for me. I hate to leave it in the dryer for a really long time. So, I started to air dry it over night and then toss it in the dryer to fluff it up. I hope this will increase the life of the diaper.
The way the inserts are designed really does help cut down on drying time though. It also makes it easier to get them clean (less layers for bacteria to get stuck in).
TIPS FOR DRYING: You can air dry natural fibers and then throw them in the dryer to fluff them up and get rid of the stiffness.

This fitted diaper is pretty complex. I have never seen a diaper quite like it. These pictures do not do it justice. I will do my best to explain it.
Here is what the diaper looks like when you first open it.
The large top insert folds in half and snaps into the front with four snaps. The blue is heavenly soft velour. This insert is removed for smaller babies.
The second insert also folds in half with another insert that snaps in between them.
It snaps into the back. The middle layer can be removed for smaller babies or for daytime use so it is less bulky.

Here it is on the smallest and the largest setting. With the small setting you just fold the front over and use those snaps to bring the rise up (top left pic).

Here is Vallon wearing it. He is not 9 months and 18lbs.
I took the largest insert out and I have the rise folded down. It fits him very well. This is how it looks after several washes. It is holding up great. It lost a little bit of it's softness but it still feels like it is very comfortable against his skin. The color is holding up well too.
Here is the wool cover I use with it. As you can see it looks a but bulky. It definitely isn't the trimmest diaper but it isn't meant to be! It is for when you baby is sleeping, not crawling. Doll Baby Couture has day time diapers too!
What do I ♥ about it?
I am in love with this diaper! It is by far my most favorite one. I have been telling everyone about it. I am so happy with it and I recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable night time solution. I love how easy it is to get on and adjust the rise if needed. It is great because the snap in inserts are easy to use and unfold for faster drying time and easier cleaning. None of the snaps touch baby's skin. It is unbelievable that this is handmade! I love handmade!
